Hello Mommies,
We eagerly anticipate festivals, and celebrating them with our little one brings us indescribable joy. Among the most cherished and beloved festivals for children is Janmashtami. We consistently strive to make each Janmashtami exceptionally special and unforgettable, putting forth our utmost efforts.
Children have a deep affection for Lord Krishna, and participating in Janmashtami celebrations while engaging in activities with them fosters the cultivation of cultural values. Here are some wonderful approaches to create a truly remarkable Janmashtami celebration.
👪 Parenting Tips
👉 Dress Up Like Krishna
1 Any color dhoti (Yellow, Red, Orange, White prefer)
2 Crown with feather on top.3 White or Yellow pearls or flowers Ornaments
4 Flute on one hand
Begin by adorning your children with dhoti and adorning them with necklaces, waist belts, and upper arm belts embellished with flowers or pearls. Placing a crown adorned with peacock feathers on their heads is a prominent and meaningful symbol of Lord Krishna. Let us place a crown with peacock feathers on your little ones. Apply a tikka using kumkum on their foreheads. To complete the look, provide them with a flute in one hand. Your little Bal Krishna is now prepared!
👉 Dahi Handi Celebration
The day before Janmashtami, take a small earthen pot and some colorful paints for decorating. Encourage your child to paint and adorn it with their creative ideas. Your Handi or Matuki is now prepared! On the day of Janmashtami, place some butter and dried fruits inside the Matuki, hang it at a suitable height so it can be reached and broken with a flute or another decorative stick. You are all set for the Dahi Handi celebration. This will make your child feel truly special.
👉 Pooja Room Decoration
Children are perpetually thrilled by the prospect of witnessing and contributing to new endeavors. So, why not involve them in adorning the pooja room with flowers, lights, and balloons? Additionally, seek their assistance in arranging the swing (jhoola), allowing them to decorate it with ribbons and flowers according to their preferences. Your little ones take delight in dressing Lord Krishna in vibrant attire, accompanied by jewelry and a flute. If your child has a collection of small animal toys, encourage them to use these to create a miniature Gokul village.
👉 Explain Importance of Janmashtami
You have the opportunity to elucidate the reasons behind the festival's celebration and provide information about its date. Narrate to your child the birth story of Lord Krishna. This narrative will foster a profound connection with our cultural heritage.
👉 Tell the Stories of Krishna
Animated films consistently hold a special place in children's affections. You can readily find animated tales of Balakrishna on platforms like YouTube. Introduce your children to stories of Krishna's adventures, such as his mischievous butter-stealing escapades and his courageous encounter with the serpent Kalia. These narratives provide immense enjoyment for kids.
👉 Visit Krishna Temple with Kids
Formulate a plan to visit a nearby Krishna Temple. Children have a deep appreciation for cultural activities and the ambience within the temple.
👉 Aarti thali Decoration
We conduct prayers and an aarti ceremony at our home during Krishna's birth time. Enlist the assistance of your enthusiastic child in decorating the aarti thali.
👉 Make some Makhan(White Butter) or Missari
Allow your children to become young culinary enthusiasts by preparing white butter or missari with their assistance. This will greatly enhance their enthusiasm for the prayer.
